Stop allowing other people fears to control you!

It's so important to realize the behaviors and fears that we adopt from others because they will unconsciously become apart of us.
Let's be honest, we're all afraid of something! Whether it's afraid of being perceived incompetent in a meeting or a fear of failing at new task or project. However, to conquer
fear, we must distinguish whose fears that we exemplify.
Personal fears are personal encounters that has shaped your personal view of the world. You can remember these experiences in great detail such as, who was involved, the circumstances surrounding it, how they made you feel etc. You can express these encounters vividly and provided a premise in how it affected you.
However, adopted fears are inherited from someone else. These fears are cultivated in an environment among people that have shared their inadequacies and intimidations and encourage you to do the same. Simply put, their fears have rubbed off on you.
I remember working for a supervisor who had a severe case of anxiety. She was very meticulous of every detail in the office for fear of administration rebuke. Therefore, she was very adamant in making sure all processes were perfect and complete. If the staff made an error, the office staff would be dismayed or even reluctant to even bring it to her attention for fear of unnecessary rebuke. Imagine working under that type of fear for almost 14 years. Unconsciously, being an adolescence in workspace environment, I adopted similar anxiety behaviors. I didn’t really realize it until I got much older when I realized that I exhibited some of the same qualities such as desiring everything has to be perfect. After a lot of self-reflection, I concluded that I never really had a personal encounter that made me feel anxious or fear of failing however, it derived from constantly being in an atmosphere of those that operated in fear that shaped my perspective.
Discerning between the two, will help you to address your own personal issues instead of those that has been placed on you.
